New York News Anchor Dana Tyler Inducted Into The New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame

On October 20, 2022, WCBS New York anchor Dana Tyler was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Tyler, who joined WCBS in 1990, now anchors the CBS News New York 6 p.m. newscast. Additionally, Tyler hosts Eyes On New York, a half-hour weekly community affairs program at WCBS, as well as several local specials: CBS 2 at Tony’s, CBS 2 at the Met, and Tunnel to Towers Run. WCBS commemorated her honor on the air.

Dana began her journalism career at WCOL Radio in Columbus, Ohio as an intern where she was then made the general assignment reporter and anchor for WBNS and won an award for her outstanding journalism before relocating to New York. Dana Tyler was one of the first African American anchors in the WCBS-TV, New York team of journalists. Other awards and accomplishments Dana Tyler has achieved in her career are The New York Association of BlackJournalists Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and receiving two Emmy awards in 2003 for coverage of a July 2003 shooting at New York City Hall and for WCBS-TV’s reporting on the August 2003 blackout.

Tyler and other inductees were honored at a Hall of Fame Luncheon at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York.
