The Views: Consistency is Krystal Lora’s Key
In a world of rapidly shifting technologies, gizmos, and gadgets, it would only make sense that discussions would be brought up about new inventions. Krystal Lora began posting content to help facilitate those discussions, looking at the forefront of new technologies and sharing them with her loyal audience. But how does a content creator move with a subject that is so everchanging?
Handle: Lora’s handles across platforms are all variations on her name. Her YouTube channel is @thekrystallora, her Instagram is @krystallora, her TikTok is her @krystallora, her X (formally Twitter) handle is @itskrystallora, and her Facebook is Krystal Lora.
Series: Lora categorizes her videos on YouTube into five different playlists: “Home + Tech”, “Fitness+”, “What’s In My Bag!”, “Shopping Hauls!”, and “Camera Comparisons!”. However, Lora doesn’t put every single one of her videos into one of these playlists. Outside of these playlists, common videos by Lora include comparisons of tech products (besides cameras), general product and feature reviews, unboxings, giveaways, and gift ideas.
Creators: Lora runs all of her own accounts.
Platform: Lora primarily posts on YouTube, but she also actively posts on Instagram and TikTok. Her X and Facebook accounts appear defunct as she last posted on these accounts in January 2021 and December 2020 respectively.
Genre(s): Lora posts content that focuses on technology, including product reviews. She occasionally posts videos on fitness, some of which involve reviewing fitness features on devices such as the Apple Watch.
Subscribers: Lora’s biggest following is on YouTube with 327K subscribers. Additionally she has 67.9K Instagram followers, 39.1K followers on X, 2K followers on Facebook, and 1.3K followers on TikTok.
The oldest videos on Lora’s YouTube channel are from 2017. Despite these videos being from seven years ago, Lora’s oldest content still accurately reflects the content she posts today. Lora’s oldest video, “Apple iPhone X Unboxing & Reaction!”, has a fairly self explanatory title. This is one of the many trends that Lora would continue with in her content going forward. Additionally, unboxings and reactions are a mainstay that have remained on her channel over its existence. The second oldest video, “iPhone 8 Plus Camera vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8!” once again acts as a template for Lora’s channel. As mentioned previously, one of the playlists on Lora’s channel is dedicated to camera comparisons.
Seeing how early these aspects of Lora’s content existed on her channel can easily develop the opinions of her audience. A content creator that remains consistent, not just in their upload schedule but in the content of their work, subliminally tells their audience that they are someone that can be relied upon. A viewer doesn’t need to worry that Lora will suddenly start posting cooking videos, she is reliable if a viewer wants to understand the price differentials between mobile phones or the difference in camera quality between devices.
Lora’s most popular videos are a bit more luxurious than simply buying a single product to review. In fact, her most popular video requires her to spend $1000, with her second most popular video seeing her spend $1500. “I Wasted $1000 at Target!” acts not only shows how expensive technology can be, but gives Lora’s audience an accurate reference as to what $1000 looks like when spent on technology in a store everyday people shop at. Compare this to the second most popular video, “I Wasted $1500 at the Apple Store!” which audiences likely don’t go to every day. Apple is known for having expensive products, with the iPhone 16 currently costing $799 for preorder, over half of Lora’s budget in the Apple Store video. Lora even continued this series into Best Buy, spending $3000 at the store. Though Best Buy and the Apple Store both focus primarily on technology, Best Buy caters to the everyday shopper whereas the Apple Store caters to shoppers who typically buy one item. It makes sense that Best Buy would be the next location Lora “wastes” money at as it is likely the store her audience would associate with technology-focused retail.
With a constant emphasis on comparison, Lora’s viewers have to trust her opinion. The only reason a content creator makes content within the same genre is because they see returns from it. Since Lora continues to make content that focuses on comparison, it’s easy to assume that her audience trusts her opinion and wants to continue to hear it six years after her YouTube channel’s foundation.
Lora’s latest video once again combines two of her greatest strengths — comparing products and unboxing them. Featuring the Apple Watch Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2, the thumbnail for this recent video asks “is it worth it?”. Like all of her videos, Lora candidly comes to a conclusion about which watch is worth the price based upon features, comfort, and a variety of other factors. It’s proof that she is consistent and that consistency has been her key to success.
Other recent videos by Lora reflect the rapidly changing world of technology that we live in today. She’s reviewed multiple AI features such as her video “Apple ‘AI’ on iPhone 15 Pro!”. She pitted Generation Alpha and Baby Boomers against each other to gauge their reactions to virtual reality in “Gen Alpha vs Boomers react to Apple Vision Pro!”. Additionally, Lora has opened up about products that she uses in her everyday life such as her electric toothbrush and her truck. These peeks into her inside world not only give her audience suggestions on products outside of the realm of electronics, they allow her viewers to engage with her personal life in ways other aspects of her content do not.
By creating a steady stream of content based in the same genre, Krystal Lora has maintained a dedicated audience that not only trusts her opinions, but returns to them.
