Ratings Report: ‘Chicago Fire’ Increases Viewership, ‘Our Blues’ Continues to Strive

Broadcast: Chicago Fire is an American drama television series created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. Dick Wolf, creator, and executive producer of the Law & Order franchise was brought as an executive producer. It is the first installment of Wolf Entertainment’s Chicago franchise. The series premiered on NBC on October 10, 2012, with the tenth season premiering on September 22, 2021. It stars Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, Monica Raymund, Lauren German, Charlie Barnett, David Eigenberg, Teri Reeves, Eamonn Walker, Yuri Sardarov, Christian Stolte, Joe Minoso, Kara Killmer, Dora Madison Burge, Steven R. McQueen, and Miranda Rae Mayo. It follows the professional and personal lives of the firefighters, rescue personnel, and paramedics of the Chicago Fire Department at the fictional Firehouse 51. After the death of veteran firefighter Andrew Darden, loyalties begin to divide as Lieutenant Matthew Casey and Kelly Severide, officer-in-charge of Truck Company 81 and Rescue Squad Company 3 respectfully, blame each other for the death of their colleague. The network placed an order for the series in May 2012 and was picked up for a full season on November 8, 2012. The pilot episode had an early release at NBC.com, before the series’ premiere on television. On March 27, 2013, NBC announced plans for a spin-off of Chicago Fire with a police procedural drama Chicago P.D. that would involve the Chicago Police Department. It premiered on January 8, 2014 and follows an Intelligence Unit of the police and is filmed entirely in Chicago. Another spin-off series was announced in February 2015 with the medical drama Chicago Med. The latest five episodes of Chicago Fire are available on Hulu with a subscription with season 4 being available on NBC.com as well as the app. It aired in Canada on Global for seven seasons before moving to CityTV. It recorded 3.954 million viewers on May 4, 2022, increasing from 3.879 the previous week. In February 2020, the series was renewed for a ninth, tenth and eleventh season leaving fans with one more confirmed season.

Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living - BET

Cable: Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living is an American television sitcom created and produced by Tyler Perry that premiered on BET on September 2, 2020. David Mann and Tamela Mann reprised their roles from Meet the Browns. It was renewed for a third season, ahead of the second season premiere. The third season premiered on March 23, 2022. It stars David and Tamela Mann, J. Anthony Brown, Na’im Lynn, Courtney Nichole, Tayler Buck, Alex Henderson, Damien Leake, Chet Anekwe, and Alretha Thomas. It follows Jeremy, portrayed by Lynn, and his family who decide to move back to Georgia to help his grandfather after losing his job. When getting there, he ends up buying a run-down home for the elderly and becomes way in over his head. Mr. Brown, played by David Mann, and Cora, portrayed by Tamela Mann, show up right in time to be investors and help run the retirement home. The first episode of the third season opened to 700,000 viewers, however, it has decreased to 430,000 in its most recent episode. This is a new low for the series and time will tell if it will be picked up for another season.

Pedro el escamoso - Netflix

Streaming: Caracol TV’s Pedro el escamoso is a telenovela that follows the cheesy but charming macho man who lives in a small town in Colombia. Upon moving to the city to find his fortune, he encounters a series of events and people that change his life dramatically. Pedro, who is also known as Chris, is the epitome of a man who can get all the women he wants; however, he goes on a journey of not being able to get the one that he loves. The series is written by Luis Felipe Salamanca and Dago García and is directed by Juan Carlos Villamizar. It stars Miguel Varoni, Javier Gómez, Sandra Reyes, Aura Helena Prada, Jairo Camargo, Álvaro Bayona, Alina Lozano, Martha Osorio, Marcela Mar, Andrea Guzmán, Juan Carlos Arango, Fernando Solórzano, Inés Oviedo, Bibiana Navas. It won Best Telenovela, Best Favorite Leading Actor, Best Favorite Supporting Actress, Best Favorite Supporting Actor, Best Favorite Antagonistic Actor, Best Libretist, Best Director at the 2002 TVyNovelas Awards. A couple of versions were created based on this series such as the Mexican network Televisa version titled “I love Juan Querendó”, the Portuguese network TVI created “Coração Malandro”, and the channel France 3 made a French version called “Le Sense de Jean-Louis”. Telemundo produced a spin-off called Como Pedro por su Casa that divided into three sagas which 20 chapters each. It starred Varoni and Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera as his new love. It is currently on Netflix’s “Global Top 10 TV (Non-English)” for the second week in a row currently sitting in 7th place. Time will tell if this series continues to grow viewership.

Our Blue - tvN

International Series: Studio Dragon’s Our Blues is an ongoing South Korean television series starring Lee Byung-hun, Shin Min-a, Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-eun, Uhm Jung-hwa, Han Ji-min, and Kim Woo-bin. It revolves around the sweet and bitter life of people standing at the end, climax, or beginning of life. It depicts their stories in an omnibus format on Jeju Island. It premiered on tvN on April 9, 2022 and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 21:10 (KST). It is also available for streaming on Netflix in selected regions. The series is written by Noh Hee-kyung and is her comeback after the 2018 drama Live. With Kim Gyu-tae serving as director and co-produced by Studio Dragon, Our Blues is a 20-episode drama divided into episodes which will be parts of each character. Filming began in Jeju Island in October 2021 after the cast was finalized. It has 14 main characters making 8 stories with 70% of the filming being done in Jeju Island. Viewership numbers have continued to increase since the first episode. It opened nationwide with 7.324%, however, its most recent episode recorded 9.559%. It has continued to be the number one watched series both nationwide and in Seoul since April 9, 2022.
