Hit or Miss: ‘What We Do In The Shadows’ Season 6
Just in time for the Halloween season, What We Do In The Shadows will be premiering on October 21st with its sixth and final season following the vampiric comedy series. Three episodes will be released on its premiere date and episodes will be released weekly on FX. New episodes will be made available the next day on Hulu.
The official description of the season states, “After a very brief stint as a full-blown vampire, Guillermo, played by Harvey Guillén (Blue Beetle, The Garfield Movie) is re-evaluating his life. Who is he if not a familiar who will do anything to please his Master in hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are reevaluating, too. When their former roommate reappears after a 50-year nap, they realize how little they’ve done in half a century — not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except for their street and part of Ashley Street).”
The officially released trailer for the series reveals the roommate that has been in the half-century long sleep named Jerry, played by comedian Mike O’Brien (Saturday Night Live, Booksmart) –who grills the vampiric squad about their lack of development and growth in the last few decades. This sends the various vampires into a journey of self-discovery and sending Laszlo –played by Matt Berry (The IT Crowd, Disenchantment)–into a Frankenstein-inspired mania by trying to reanimate a corpse, although he states he has no idea who Frankenstein is, despite being a 310-year-old vampire. “No, I’ve never heard of him, what I am doing is completely original,” says Laszlo to energy vampire Colin Robinson–played by Mark Proksch (A.P. Bio, Better Call Saul). However Nadja–played by Natasia Demetriou–who is the vampire who originally bit, turned, and later married Laszlo, finds his behavior erratic and ridiculous stating, “You have turned our home into Jack the Ripper’s recycle bin!” as body parts are strewn around the room as Laszlo scrambles to assemble a pieced-together creature.
Meanwhile, Nandor the Relentless–played by Kayvan Novak (Paddington, Men In Black: International)–seems to be finally considering some world domination proclaiming “Let the conquest of the new world commence!” showing him leading some group down a street, ready for battle, as well as training in the apartment by destroying a punching bag with a knife. Nadja also pursues her goals through conquest of corporate America claiming “Everyday I am learning the dark arts of corporate America,” while another clip shows Nadja throwing Laszlo into a car out of aggression.
The cast of What We Do In The Shadows also stars Kristen Schaal (Bojack Horseman, The Last Man On Earth) as The Guide, with potential appearances from Doug Jones (Hellboy, Star Trek: Discovery), Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart, Lady Bird), Jemaine Clement (Rio, Men In Black 3), Haley Joel Osment (The Boys, Goliath), Vanessa Bayer (Saturday Night Live, I Love That For You), Nick Kroll (Big Mouth, Kroll Show) and more.
