Hard Numbers: ‘Ayman’ Hits A New Record, ‘CBS Mornings’ Draws In 2.1 Million
News (Daily – Broadcast): After CBS Mornings claimed low records for the year in July (1.923 million monthly viewers) and August (1.889 million), the program recovered its viewership, climbing back to 2.102 million monthly viewers on September 15th. It is the most views the program has procured in three months. Since the start of June, episodes aired before September 15th consistently recorded ratings below 2 million viewers, contrasting ratings from the first five months this year (when averages consistently reached over 2.1 and 2.2 million).
Syndication’s Entertainment Tonight recorded 2.712 million monthly viewers for its episode aired on September 15th.
Viewership for Good Morning America (GMA) continued its steady decline throughout September. Viewership has declined slowly since the program recorded 2.840 million viewers for its June 2nd episode. On September 1st, Good Morning America recorded 2.549 million monthly viewers with views slowly sliding to 2.511 million by September 22nd (the lowest views GMA has recorded this year).
NBC News Daily recorded 1.123 million views on September 22nd. Viewership for the NBC program reflected August viewership, with all episodes remaining around one million views.
NBC’s Nightly News with Lester Holt recorded 6.028 million monthly viewers on September 15th (the only episode to reach over 6 million in September) before falling to 5.612 million by the next recorded rating on September 22nd. Furthermore, as American football programs returned with the start of the regular season, Sunday Night Football, Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick, and Football Night in America claimed their places as the top three most-watched NBC programs. The Voice has also started its new season and became the fourth most-watched program, evidently pushing Nightly News with Lester Holt to be the fifth most-watched program on its network where it usually places first.
The Today Show recorded 2.526 million monthly viewers on September 22nd.
News (Weekend – Broadcast): 20/20 earned its highest rating of the past three months on September 20th with 2.782 million monthly viewers. As 60 Minutes entered its 57th season on September 15th, its premiere episode recorded 10.477 million monthly viewers. It is currently the second most-watched program on CBS. Dateline earned 1.712 million monthly viewers for its September 20th episode. Meet the Press with Kristen Welker experienced a decline, earning its lowest rating of the past three months with 2.282 million monthly viewers on September 22nd.
News & Politics (Daily – Cable): Alex Wagner Tonight maintained around 1.5 million viewers for each episode in September, pulling in its most viewers of the month (2.032 million monthly viewers) on September 11th. Similarly, Laura Coates Live drew in its most viewers of the month on September 11th, pulling in 687,000. The ReidOut recorded 1.457 million monthly viewers on September 20th.
News & Politics (Weekend – Cable): After achieving its second-highest recorded rating of the past two years in August (with 821,000 monthly viewers), MSNBC’s Ayman has conquered a new peak. On September 14th, Ayman earned 852,000 monthly viewers, beating its previous high record of 846,000 viewers (a rating earned on April 13th).
First of All with Victor Blackwell recorded a rating of 428,000 monthly viewers on September 7th. Inside Politics has met its lowest ratings of three months, earning 397,000 monthly viewers on September 1st. It has been the only episode to drop below 400,000 viewers since June when the program fell to just 399,000.
MSNBC’s PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton conjured 619,000 monthly viewers on September 8th. The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart experienced a slight increase from August to September, though the program maintained its viewership pattern without any drastic increases or decreases. On September 7th, The Saturday Show earned 725,000 monthly viewers. In contrast, The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart experienced a slight decline from August to September, earning 630,000 on September 1st.
After recording high ratings throughout August, Velshi experienced fluctuations throughout September. The MSNBC program pulled in 843,000 monthly viewers on September 7th before its viewership fell by more than 100,000 and recorded 653,000 viewers for its next episode on September 8th.
Talk Show: GMA3: What You Need to Know climbed to 1.3 million monthly viewers on September 22nd. GMA3 is currently the 18th most-watched program on ABC.
NBC’s Today Third Hour recorded 1.743 million monthly viewers on September 22nd. ABC’s The View recorded 2.393 million monthly viewers on September 22nd.
