It has been announced that Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes will host the 94th Oscars on March 27, 2022. This announcement is an unprecedented event in the Oscars' history. Including the fact that it has been over three decades since three people hosted the Oscars, this is the first time that three comedians, three women, and two women of color will serve as hosts. This and a diverse list of nominations exemplify progress in the ethics, activity, and social awareness of the Oscars. While there is still a long way to go, this decision by the changing Academy is a good step forward in maintaining its reputation and relevancy.

The three actresses were formally announced as hosts on Good Morning America early on Tuesday, where Schumer made it known during a brief statement on the show. On the same day, Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson announced their confidence in producer Will Packer’s approach in selecting the hosts. The decision appears to have been a wise one since, after the announcement by Amy Schumer, the topic of the Oscars’ hosts has been blowing up on social media. Specifically, Rubin and Hudson seem to be banking on the three actresses’ comedic talents and ability to connect with the audience. If so, they have an important task at hand as they work on the Oscars’ lowest-rated broadcast since its founding. A Hot Set wishes them success.
