LeVar Burton To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At The Daytime Emmy's

On April 26, 2022, LeVar Burton was announced as a 2022 Lifetime Achievement honoree by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Burton is being recognized for his role as host of Reading Rainbow for twenty-five years. Burton was the host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow, an educational television series designed to encourage children to read on PBS. After Reading Rainbow stopped being broadcast in 2006, Burton and his business partner, Mark Wolfe, acquired the global rights and formed RRKIDZ. Reading Rainbow became an application for the iPad in 2012, becoming the number-one educational application within days of release. At RRKIDZ, Burton served as co-founder and curator-in-chief, ensuring that the projects met the standards and trust of the Reading Rainbow brand. Under Burton’s leadership, the show garnered over two hundred broadcast awards, including a Peabody Award and twenty-six Emmy Awards.
