Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards

The date for the 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) has been confirmed by the award ceremony's organizers. This year's edition will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, from Thursday, May 18 to Saturday, May 20, 2023, beginning with the Opening Night and Culture Day, followed by the Digital Content Creators, Young Filmmakers Day, and the Runway Show/Nominee Gala the following day. The festivities will conclude with the Award Night.

Since its inception in 2013, the AMVCA has been an annual ceremony presented by MultiChoice honoring outstanding achievements in television and film. The deadline for submissions for the award presentation was March 17, 2023. According to Busola Tejumola, MultiChoice's Head of Content and West Africa Channels, the number of entries increased by 40% over the previous year. The shortlisting step has already begun, and the judgment rounds will follow shortly.

Femi Odugbemi, a distinguished Nigerian film director, producer, and writer, is this year's Chief Judge. The AMVCA nominees will be announced on April 9, 2023, at 2 p.m. EST, across all Africa Magic channels. Following the release of the nominees, the voting link will open, allowing viewers to vote for their favorites.
