‘Byron Presents TheGrio Awards’ Returns to CBS for Second Year

CBS will premiere the second annual Byron Allen Presents TheGrio Awards on November 25 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will stream live on Paramount+.

Co-hosted by Sheryl Underwood and Roy Wood Jr, TheGrio Awards honors icons in film, television, music, comedy, journalism, social justice, environmental justice, philanthropy, education, sports, and business who have impacted black culture and community in America.

According to their website, TheGrio is a digital media network devoted to delivering news as it happens, award-winning movies, sports, lifestyle, and classic TV shows focused on the African American community.

Among the 2023 honorees include Eddie Murphy for The Icon Award, Denzel Washington for The Film Icon Award; Mariah Carey for The Music Icon Award; Don Cheadle for The Environmental Champion Award; Kevin Hart for The Comedy Icon Award; Misty Copeland for The Trailblazer Icon Award; Steve Harvey for The Television Icon Award; Tamron Hall for The Journalism Icon Award; Reverend Al Sharpton for The Justice Icon Award and more.

The awards show will also feature musical performances by Jennifer Hudson, Boyz II Men, Smokey Robinson, Coco Jones, and Patti LaBelle. 

Byron Allen Presents TheGrio Awards is co-produced by Allen Media Group Backhand Productions. Allen, Carolyn Folks, Jennifer Lucas, Jeff Atlas, and Michelle Willrich are executive producers.
