Indie Content Creators: Here's My Opinion

Entertainment Reviews: One person's opinion is not everyone's reality but Brandon K. Avery’s thoughts come pretty close on his YouTube channel, Just My Opinion Reviews. Brandon reviews react and cover a range of different movies and TV shows, though he has a soft spot for Marvel and anime.

Brandon has come to be a well-respected movie review channel after deciding to pick up the camera two years ago. Though he outwardly admits in his very first video that he certainly has a preferred genre when it comes to film, he is certainly unbiased in his content and focuses on many aspects to bring his opinion together. Brandon will closely analyze the acting, producing and direction of a particular film and give well-developed thoughts without being so base level. In one of his recent videos, he talks about the new film that was just released this month, Just Mercy. The movie stars Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Fox and is based on true events. Though he was quite familiar with the directors’ work, Destin Cretton, Brandon had high praise for the filmed and even deemed it Oscar-worthy. Aside from movies and TV reviews, Brandon also makes videos reacting to entertainment news such as when Spiderman returned back to the MCU.

No matter what you’re into, I believe Brandon provides content for all viewers and his numbers show it. Brandon’s channel currently stands at 18.3 thousand subscribers and over 105 thousand views on his most-watched video. Aside from YouTube, Brandon also has his own website where you can also see his ratings for different films/shows, see what’s going on in the box office and even contact information in case you ever want to get in touch and recommend any films that he should review.

As a child of South Sudanese immigrants, Nyma discusses on her channel being bullied for her dark, melanin-filled skin tone when she arrived in the United States. Nonetheless, Nyma took the hate she received as a young girl and used it as the foundation of her platform to speak out about the issues of colorism.

Rising above her experiences of being bullied, Nyma has now created a YouTube channel focuses on beauty tips for makeup including a tutorial, reviews, GRWM videos and more. Quite often you’ll find many reviews and tutorials on the cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna which is known for providing beauty products that focus on a wide range of skin tones and gender. Aside from that, you can also find vlogs that let us see a day in Nyma’s normal life as well as sit-down discussion videos about the issues of color-ism or self-confidence etc.

Social Commentary/Gossip: If you’ve never had a chance to watch one of Richard Williams then you’re certainly in for a treat. The St. Louis, Missouri native who’s better known as Prince Ea on YouTube and beyond is known as the jack-of-all-trades. He’s an American rapper, spoken word artist, music video director, and human rights activist. Notwithstanding, he puts a new spin on his political commentary.

Due to his artistic background, it’d be mediocre to sit in front of a camera every single time and give his thoughts on the issue that faces this country. Instead, Richard will occasionally turn his commentary into spoken word to discuss controversial and political topics. His execution of these videos are simply innovative and inventive while evoking a much different tone then if it were a regular sit-down video. In one of his videos titled Dear Future Generations: Sorry Richard discusses the effects of global warming around the world and how day by day we are destroying our future kin’s only home. His poetic performance is attention-grabbing and bound to extract some emotions when watching. In another video, Richard breaks down the school system and how it fails to prepare us for the real world. Though the spoken word is a form of art that focuses on a play of words, he never distracts you from the main idea of what is being said and the issues that must be fixed before it is too late to do anything.

If you refuse to take this recommendation, I’m sure his 5.22 million subscribers would unquestionably agree. Prince Ea’s videos is something that everyone should have the chance to see and judge for themselves. On his most popular video, Prince Ea reached a skyrocketing 22 million views and it’s without a doubt that we should all expect that number to grow. His videos serve not only as a reality check but as inspiration to do better and want better for yourself and for this world.
