The Box: Saba Mubarak Starring In 'Suits' Arabic Remake; 'Parallèles', First French-language Disney+ Series; New Trailer For 'The King Of Pigs'

Africa: Openview has launched a new channel on their network called ‘eXposed’. This new channel will tackle lifestyle, food, music, art, and other entertainment avenues.  Openview is a free-to-view television network in South Africa that offers a variety of international and domestic channels.

Isono is coming free-to-air on TV. The story follows a young man brought up in Johannesburg named Gabriel and his fight to defeat the controlling matriarch, Mother Mary, and her lust for power.  Mother Mary is played by Nthati Moshesh who is known for her work in the popular 2004 mini-series Human Cargo. Bohang Moeko, known for his role as Kabelo in 2016’s Ring Of Lies, will portray Gabriel. BET’s lustful drama series will launch on networks on April 1st.  

Asia: Jericho Rosales will be headlining an all-new Philippines prison action series. The series will cover the intricacies of a massive drug empire operating out of a maximum-security prison facility. Jericho is most notably known for his role in Pacquiao: The Movie where he portrayed world-famous boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao.

A new trailer has been released for the highly anticipated The King Of Pigs. The story follows a man receiving a message about a series of serial killings that stir up trauma from his schoolboy days over 20 years ago. Kim Dong Wook has been cast as the lead. He is known for his role in the K-drama series You Are My Spring.

Middle East: Love, Life & Everything In Between is arriving on Netflix this March. The dark humor, anthological series follows eight filmmakers on their journeys to insightful experiences. Each story is connected by the context that they all take place on Valentine’s Day. One of the notable directors featured in the series is Hany Abu-Assad who is coming off the release of his film Huda’s Salon. The series was released on March 10th and can now be viewed on Netflix.  

Saba Mubarak is among the star-studded cast of the Arabic Suits TV series remake. Saba will portray the role of Amira who is an adaptation of the original series’ Jessica. The series is being written by the head of the Cairo Film Festival Mohamed Hefzy as well as Yasser Abdel. The first two seasons are already under production with the series dropping on popular streaming service Orbit Showtime Network on April 2nd.  

Latin America: Yalitza Aparicio has been cast in Midnight Family. The story is based on the 2019 documentary of the same title that chronicles the lives of a paramedic family that runs their own ambulance business. Yalitza was Oscar-nominated for her performance in Netflix’s Roma. This will be the first Spanish-language series for Apple TV.  

Season 2 of El Último Rey has been announced. The series is biographical and covers the life of famous singer and songwriter Vincente Fernández. It is based on a book written by Olga Wornat. The series has been met with large appeal despite its controversial nature in representing all aspects and flaws of the highly influential singer. The lawyers of Fernández’s family have requested the show not continue based on its story tying Vincente to a drug trafficking and kidnapping plot. Despite this, producer Juan Osario insists the show go on.  

Europe: Quoc Dang Tran will be helming the first French-language series on Disney+. The project is titled Parallèles. The sci-fi thriller will follow four teenage friends as a mysterious phenomenon sends each of them spiraling into different timelines. Tran is known for creating the Netflix series Marianne. 

Suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery on the set of Netflix’s hit series Lupin. Over 20 people were involved in the robbery that stole over 300,000 USD worth of film equipment for the intent of fencing. Many of the suspects were under the age of 18. The robbery took place on February 25th when the assailants threw fireworks on the set to cause chaos and escape with a good amount of inventory.
