Africa: Netflix South Africa has debuted its second Afrikaans drama, Tuiskoms. Produced by Infinity Films, the 7-episode romantic series stars Amalia Uys as Fleur, a widowed chef in Wilderness. It marks the final role of actress Michelle Botes, who passed away in December 2024, playing Fleur's mother, Abigail.
After a year of airing repeats in the 18:30 weekday slot on SABC1, which led to a ratings decline due to a lack of new content, the SABC will launch a new telenovela, Amalanga Awafani (loosely meaning "the days are not the same"), in April. Produced by Stained Glass TV, known for Uzalo and series on Showmax and Netflix South Africa, the show aims to revive viewership for SABC1.
