Small Screen: This 'Law & Order' Character's Possible Return; Robert Rodriguez 'Zorro,' Disney+ First Original Production From Spain
Broadcast: NBC’s upcoming revival of the classic hit Law & Order could see a beloved character return. In an interview with CBS’ The Talk actor Jesse L. Martin, known for his iconic character of Detective Ed Green, hinted at the possibility saying: “I couldn’t possibly say. I certainly hope so. There were a lot of loose ends when Ed Green left the scene if you will. Yes, maybe.” Martin was with the show from season 10 all the way to season 18 where his character departed following an indictment/trial for a shooting. Unfortunately, the broadcast channel refused to comment and a source close to the project claims there have been no talks of Detective Green returning.
John Harlan Kim has joined the upcoming revival pilot of ABC’s L.A. Law. Kim will be working alongside returning cast members such as Blair Underwood, Johnathan Rollins, Corbin Bernsen, Arnie Becker, and new members Toks Olagundoye, Hari Nef, and Ian Duff. Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed have penned the pilot with Anthony Hemingway attached to direct. The episode ‘follows the venerable law firm of McKenzie Brackman — now named Becker Rollins — as it reinvents itself as a litigation firm specializing in only the most high-profile, boundary-pushing and incendiary cases.’ Kim will be playing Chad Park, ‘an up-and-coming attorney at the firm described as a “shark-in-training” whose ambition sometimes gets ahead of his ethical standards. He’s a brilliant attorney who takes on his first murder trial and must devise an inventive legal strategy when his client drops a bombshell in open court.’
The CW will do a gender-swapped reimagining of the classic masked vigilante Zorro in a 7 episode series from director Robert Rodriguez. Joining him will be writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez, Sean Tretta (Mayans M.C.), Ben Silverman, and Howard T. Owens’ Propagate and CBS Studios. It is unsure at this time what will happen next for the series if the scripts are greenlit however it is assumed the show will obtain a straight to series order. ‘The CW’s Zorro is a new incarnation of the project, which was in development at NBC during the 2020-21 cycle, with Tretta as a new addition to the brother-and-sister writing team of Robert and Rebecca Rodriguez.’
