Ratings Report: 'Queen of the South' Makes A Splash On Netflix

Broadcast: The Neighborhood an American sitcom television series, created by Jim Reynolds that premiered on October 1, 2018, on CBS. It stars Cedric Antonio Kyles, Max Greenfield, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, Hank Greenspan, Tichina Arnold, and Beth Behrs. It follows a white Midwestern family as they adjust to moving into a predominantly black neighborhood in Pasadena, California. As Greenfield’s character is known as the ‘nicest guy in the Midwest he must adjust to the fact that not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. The series was given a pilot production commitment on September 27, 2017, under its previous title Here Comes the Neighborhood. It was written by Jim Reynolds who was also set to executive produce alongside Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, and Wendi Trilling. The series officially received a pilot order on January 27, 2018, with James Burrows taking on the role of director. It was given a series order on May 9, 2018, by CBS, and was announced that it would premiere on October 1, 2018. The first season had a total of twenty-one episodes as CBS had ordered an additional eight episodes on October 19, 2018. Reynolds stepped down as showrunner and executive producer on April 5, 2021, due to complaints of his “insensitive comments and other race-related issues over a period of time.” CBS renewed the series for a fifth season on January 24, 2022. The series has received mixed to negative responses from critics upon its premiere. With a 24% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the critical consensus stating, “While the show’s likable cast has potential, poor attempts at cultural commentary and weak characterizations leave The Neighborhood stuck in a creative dead end.” On April 18, 2022, it recorded 5.365 million viewers. Time will tell what the future of this series will be. On March 26, 2022, DeLoatch exited as the showrunner leaving the position empty for the time being.

Queen of the South - Netflix

Streaming: Based on La Reina del Sur by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Queen of the South is an American crime drama television series developed by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. It premiered on June 23, 2016, and concluded on June 9, 2021, with 62 episodes aired on USA Network. The series was renewed for a fifth season on August 29, 2019; however, production was suspended indefinitely on March 14, 2020, due to COVID-19 but resumed in fall 2020. It stars Alice Braga, Peter Gadiot, Hemky Madera, Molly Burnett, Veronica Falcon, Joaquim de Almeida, Justina Machado, Gerardo Tarcena, Alfonso Herrera, Jon-Michael Ecker, Joseph T. Campos, and David Andrews. It centres around Teresa Mendoza, who lives in the barrio of Culiacán in Sinaloa, Mexico. After falling in love with a member of a drug cartel, she tries to rise above her life’s impoverished condition. She flees after being told that her boyfriend was murdered, ultimately crossing the border to the United States where she ends up in the criminal organization of the wife of the cartel boss who is after her. She starts her own drug distributing organization, which presents her with more problems, and forces her to endure sacrifices while simultaneously attracting the attention of covert government forces. The fifth season currently sits in 7th place on Netflix’s “Global Top 10 TV (English)” recording 13,100,000 hours viewed.
