Ratings Report: Black Monday Ends High

Broadcast: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’s last run of a season at ABC has been seeing decline since the final season premiere, averaged 1.325 million viewers in the past two weeks. However, the series, from its long running history, has established a loyal fanbase in the age 18-49 demo at average 300,000 viewers this season. 

Cable: On July 15, BET’s American Soul’s season 2 finale had 624,000 total viewers, only 4.7 percent increase from the previous week and just above the season average. Over at Showtime, Black Monday also wrapped up the second season on July 19 with 100,000 total viewers and 30,000 viewers in the age 18-49 demographic. Although the finale total viewers are slightly lower than season average, Black Monday’s 18-49 demo viewership saw a 50 percent increase. The Chi has been seeing a steady increase in viewership: the past two episode both had 19 percent increase in total viewers and 20 to 25 percent increase in the 18-49 demographic. The Chi averaged 418,500 total viewers and 165,000 18-49 demo viewers in the past two weeks. HBO’s I May Destroy You is seeing a new low in viewership with only 94,500 average total viewers from the past two weeks, well below the season average. Over at OWN, Greenleaf had an average 1.236 million total viewership. 

International: Korean drama’s average ratings for the week of July 20-26 are as follow: Once Again (KBS)-28.88%; Backstreet Rookie (SBS)-7.65%; It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (tvN)-5.5%; My Unfamiliar Family (tvN)-4.9%; Graceful Friends (JTBC)-4.5%; The Good Detective (JTBC)-4.3%; Chip-In (MBC)-3.6%; Memorials (KBS)-3.1%.

My Unfamiliar Family saw an all time high this Tuesday with 5.4 percent. Chip-In premiered to a low rating and a slight drop the second episode. Graceful Friends saw a jump in ratings from 3.7 percent last week to an average 4.5 percent this week.

Over at the United kingdom, Coronation Street averaged 6,752,000 viewers, and Emmerdale averaged 5,520,000 viewers in the past week.

Streaming: Amidst the summer heat, Apple TV’s new series Little Voice might bring you some breezy summer feelings, starring Brittany O’Grady singing out music by Sara Bareilles. Some audiences believe Bess (O’Grady) is not a consistent character with a messy lifestyle not represented by the smoothness of her music, but others appreciate the earnestness from the series and find it a charming new series. Little Voice scored 74% with the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
