A Hot Set highlights the domestic and international Black new media entities founded by content creators using social media outlets as a venue to present a diverse array of scripted and unscripted media content.

Domestic - VIDEO SHARING SITE

Represents video sharing sites founded and entirely owned by African Americans.

Fanbase: Fanbase is a photo, video, live streaming, and long-form content app founded by Isaac Hayes III that lets you monetize your posts by gaining subscribers for exclusive content you create.

HBCU Streams: HBCU Streams is a video sharing site and a subsidiary of Urban Edge Networks focused on HBCU and HBCU-adjacent content.


DOMESTIC - content creators

Represents independent content creator platforms founded and entirely owned by African Americans.

Black Star Network: The Black Star Network (BSN) is a media network founded by Roland Martin that produces and delivers streaming content to global consumers engaged by the political, business, and cultural insights and perspectives of Black thought leaders, influencers, and opinion makers.

Comedy Hype: Comedy Hype is a digital media outlet founded by Jon Aba that produces news segments via Comedy Hype News, interviews celebrities, and much more. The platform has two YouTube channels Comedy Hype and Comey Hype Uncut. They also feature a shop and live studio via Comedy Hypes Labs in Atlanta, Georgia.

Essence Studios:
Essence Studios is the production arm of the parent company Essence Communications (the publisher of the bimonthly Black women’s magazine and digital media platform Essence). The production company focuses on targeted events and digital video content targeting Black women.

Uninterrupted: Uninterrupted is a digital media outlet (a subsidiary of SpringHill Entertainment founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter) that features an ongoing series of transformative social and cultural conversations.


INTERNATIONAL - content creators

Represents independent content creator platforms founded and entirely owned by Black people internationally.

Africa Stream: African Stream is a pan-African digital media organization founded by Ahmed Kaballo that focuses on giving a voice to all Africans both at home and abroad through cutting-edge, African-centered content.

Beta Squad: Beta Squad is a British content creator platform founded by Chunkz, Niko Omilana, Aj Shabeel, Sharky, and King Kenny that creates funny and informative social experiment videos. The digital media platform has three YouTube channels: Beta Squad More Beta, and Beta Squad Shorts.

Cruise: Cruise is a pan-African content creator platform that creates African-centered social experiments.
