Reality Beat: New Game Shows Coming to ABC and Fox
Game Shows: Recently, ABC confirmed several game shows will be coming to the network. ABC premiered Holey-Moley: Fore-Ever! on May 3, and it will premiere Celebrity Family Feud and The $100,000 Pyramid on July 10. Holey-Moley: Fore-Ever! kicked off its mini-golf competition with eight contestants, The Muppets as guests, Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore as commentators, and Jeannie Mai and Stephen Curry as side correspondents. Celebrity Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey, will be returning for its 8th season, and the $100,000 Pyramid, hosted by Michael Strahan, is returning for its 6th season.
Fox confirmed a few game shows as well, including Beat Shazam and Don’t Forget The Lyrics! Beat Shazam, which will be hosted by Jamie Foxx, is coming to Fox on May 18. This game show features four teams battling against each other to guess songs. A new version of Don’t Forget The Lyrics!, which will be hosted by Niecy Nash, will premiere on May 23. In addition to guessing lyrics, contestants will now be required to sing karaoke with the house band with disappearing lyrics on the screen.
Competitive Series: As summer approaches, anticipation for Love Island 2022 builds. Although a lot of information about the new season is still under wraps, it has been rumored to air on June 6, and if it follows its preceding seasons, it will run for six to eight weeks. Laura Whitmore will host the show for the third time in a row. Although it will still be held in Mallorca, it will apparently take place in a brand-new villa. While no contestants have been confirmed, Brad McDermott, Zara McDermott’s brother, may appear. Sophia Draper, a beautician who dated Matty Cash, may also be a contestant.
Lifestyle: The Real Housewives of Dubai is set to premiere on Bravo on Wednesday, June 1 from 9:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. ET., and the cast and first trailer were just released. The cast includes Nina Ali (a lifestyle content creator), Chanel Ayan (a fashion and beauty expert and Dubai’s first Black supermodel), Caroline Brooks (works in the Dubai real estate world and hopes to open a spa one day), Dr. Sara Al Madani (a public speaker and entrepreneur), Lesa Milan (former Miss Jamaica winner and maternity line fashion designer), and Caroline Stanbury (previous star of Bravo’s Ladies of London).
In the lineup of Amazon’s new reality TV shows coming this summer is The One That Got Away, which will premiere all of its ten episodes on June 24. It is hosted by singer-songwriter Betty Who and will follow six singles searching for their soulmate. Each of them will have the opportunity to “explore a lifetime of mixed connections by entering through ‘The Portal’.” It is produced by Amazon Studios and Fulwell 73.
