Hard Numbers: 'CBS Mornings' Battles Low Viewership, 'Politics Nation' Conquers A New Peak

News (Daily – Broadcast): CBS Mornings is currently the 11th most-watched series on its network and 43rd overall on TV. This month, the program battled a trend of declining ratings. Ratings reached a new low on its July 21st broadcast with 1.923 million monthly viewers. CBS Mornings showed signs of recovery on July 28th, earning a rating of 2.1 million monthly viewers. It was the first time since June 9th that an episode reached an audience of over 2 million.

Syndication’s Entertainment Tonight earned a rating of 2.641 million monthly viewers for July. It’s the lowest number of views the program recorded this year despite being the 7th most-watched series on Syndication. NBC News Daily procured 1.186 million monthly viewers. Good Morning America (GMA) battled against the decline in July. The program fell to 2.568 million monthly viewers on its July 14th broadcast, its lowest rating of the month. GMA turned the tide in its favor with the following episodes, reaching its peak viewership of the month on July 28th with 2.659 million monthly viewers.

Nightly News With Lester Holt spiked to 6.188 million monthly viewers for its July 28th episode. It’s the first time the program has reached over 6 million since its May 5th broadcast. The program remains within the top steps of NBC’s most-watched ladder. Similarly, NBC’s The Today Show spiked to 2.611 million on July 28th after recording the lowest rating in three months for the episode prior at 2.455 million. The Today Show is another series in the most-watched NBC programs list, currently at 3rd following the Summer Olympics and Nightly News With Lester Holt.

News (Weekend – Broadcast): 20/20 maintained over 2 million monthly viewers in June. As July pulled in, 20/20 dipped below 2 million and maintained that position through the remainder of the month, with a final rating on July 26th with 1.831 million monthly viewers.

Meet the Press with Kristen Welker rallied 2.595 million monthly viewers this July. The program currently sits as the 4th most-watched series on NBC.

Chris Salcedo - The Chris Salcedo show/newsmaxx

News & Politics (Daily – Cable): Alex Wagner Tonight stayed around the one million mark, fluctuating over and under, ultimately finishing July with 1.607 million monthly viewers. The Chris Salcedo Show conjured a viewership rating of 350,000 this July. The program’s viewership has been increasing steadily since January, spending the first half of the year just under 300,000 monthly viewers. The Chris Salcedo Show’s July ratings put the program’s ability to pull in viewers on display. The Faulkner Focus also showed a breakthrough reaching 2.063 million monthly viewers this July and maintaining its position as the 11th most-watched program on Fox News.

Laura Coates Live received a rating of 483,000 viewers for July, climbing an impressive 100,000 from June. Making Money With Charles Payne maintained a viewership of 137,000 in July, unmoving from its viewership rating that it received in June. Morning in America averaged 25,000 monthly viewers, the same rating average from its previous month. It’s the 10th most popular program on NewsNation.

Outnumbered built a rating of 2.192 million viewers, the highest average it had this year. MSNBC’s The ReidOut reached 2.218 million monthly viewers for its July 11th episode, recording the second time in two months that an episode reached over 2 million. The program pulled in a total average of 1.361 million viewers in July. It was the highest total average recorded for The ReidOut this year. The ReidOut is currently the 3rd most popular series on MSNBC.

News & Politics (Weekend – Cable): MSNBC’s Ayman dipped to 330,000 monthly viewers for July. The series regularly attracts around 400,000 over and under. It is the lowest rating an episode has received in three months. First of All with Victor Blackwell experienced a dip in viewership during its last episode in June with 326,000 viewers. The series recovered and advanced its viewership through July, ending with 471,000 monthly viewers (over 100,000 more than its previous recorded numbers). Inside Politics averaged 603,000 monthly viewers in July, holding its place as the 7th most-watched CNN program.

Politics Nation with Al Sharpton conquered a recording of over 700,000 monthly viewers for the second time in two months. The series received a rating of 723,000 monthly viewers for its June 1st episode. Ratings jumped a second time to 746,000 monthly viewers on July 27th, the highest rating recorded on an episode this year. Both ratings were preceded by episodes that earned under 450,000 viewers. Similarly, The Saturday Show with Jonathan Capehart met its lowest-rated episode this year on July 6th with 306,000 monthly viewers. It was quickly followed by its highest-rated episode on July 13th with 789,000. The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart also saw a climb in viewership through July, ending with 689,000 monthly viewers with its July 28th broadcast after starting with 382,000 at the start of the month. All three MSNBC programs experienced a pattern of dramatic low to dramatic high this month as they fought to attract new and regular viewers.
