Hard Numbers: '60 Minutes' Reigns Supreme on NBC Weekends and 'First Take' Enters ESPN Top 10

NBC Nightly News with Lestor Holt - NBC

News (Daily – Broadcast): CBS Mornings starts off the July rankings by entering CBS’s Top 20 at No. 19. The broadcast amassed an average of 2.148 million viewers. Good Morning America comes in at No. 7 on ABC with an average P2+ household of 2.917 million viewers. Moving along to NBC, NBC Nightly News with Lestor Holt stood strong at No. 1, bringing in 5.897 million viewers this month. However, it was a 234,000 viewer setback in comparison to June’s average of 6.131 million viewers. The Today Show nabs the No. 3 spot on NBC, coming in with an average of 2.530 million viewers. NBC News Daily is lower on the totem pole of shows over at NBC, landing at No. 16 with 1.055 million viewers garnered.

60 Minutes - cBS

News (Weekend – Broadcast): 60 Minutes reigned supreme on NBC for weekend broadcasts accumulating an average of 5.101 million viewers for July. 20/20 gained momentum by closing in on the Top 10 over at ABC, but stabilizes at No. 13. As numbers rolled in, 20/20 averaged a P2+ household of 2.029 million viewers.

Alex Wagner Tonight - MSNBC

News & Politics (Daily – Cable): Alex Wagner Tonight has made significant strides moving from the No. 5 spot on MSNBC to No. 3. Regardless of the big jump, the average viewers dropped this month amounting to 1.312 million viewers, 296,000 less viewers than last month. The ReidOut (with Joy Reid) continued to maintain its No. 7 spot on MSNBC losing 221,000 viewers in comparison to June’s numbers; the P2+ average is 1.085 million for July. The Faulkner Focus continued to make progress moving from No. 10 to No. 9 on Fox News. Last month, the show caught the attention of 1.302 million viewers on average. For the month of July, Faulkner averaged 75,000 more viewers than June’s numbers with 1.377 million viewers – 75,000 more viewers than June’s numbers. Outnumbered dropped out of Fox News’ Top 10, going from No. 8 to No. 12. With a P2+ household average of 1.467 million viewers for July, it was nonetheless a 57,000 viewer increase from the previous month.  

Inside Politics with Abby Phillip - CNN

News & Politics (Weekend – Cable): American Voices with Alicia Menendez jumps to the No. 12 spot on MSNBC – a five-spot difference from last month place at No. 17. Menendez managed to pull in an average of 467,000 viewers this month, a 90,000+ difference in viewers from last month. This raises the question of whether Menendez will be able to hold its spot at No. 12 next month. Ayman, also jumped to the Top 10 at MSNBC, landing at No. 9. It totaled 582,430 viewers for the month of July, a 5,000+ loss in viewers from last month. Inside Politics with Abby Phillip has dropped off the CNN radar for July only amounting to an average of 529,000 viewers, 90,000+ less viewers than last month.

Lawrence Jones Cross Country’s progress continued to falter as the weekly show’s average viewership dropped from a June average of 800,500 viewers to 787,000 for July. The Medhi Hassan Show slowed down this month as well, losing 38,000 viewers for a total of 513,000. Politics Nation with Al Sharpton similarly slowed down similar with an average P2+ household of 467,875 in June. Symone followed suit dropping from 487,000 to 442,750 viewers in July, a decrease of 190,000+ from last month.

Eva Pilgrim, DeMarco Morgan, and Jennifer Ashton - GMA3: What You Need to Know / ABC

Talk Show: GMA3: What You Need to Know came in at No. 18 for ABC’s talk shows, according to the Top ABC Shows list. The average audience for the month of July was 1.471 million. Today with Hoda & Jenna did not see much difference in July garnering 1.394 million viewers and taking the No. 14 spot on NBC shows. Today 3rd Hour became the 12th most popular show on NBC, totaling an average viewership of 1.829 million. The View entered ABC’s Top 15 at No. 11 with 2.105 million views for July, closing in on Top 10 show This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Molly Qerim & Stephen A. Smith - First Take / ESPN

Sports: First Take seems to be taking its first steps toward a Top 10 spot for ESPN. The show amassed a total of 357,000 viewers for July, and hopefully next month they can sweep the board and rise to the Top 5 on ESPN. Pardon the Interruption led as the 6th most popular show on ESPN with an average audience viewership of 527,870.
