Game Control: FIFA 21 Plus Other 2021 Releases
Console: Super Mario Bros. 35 is out now for the Nintendo Switch. It is available to Nintendo Switch Online members for free on the Nintendo eShop, and will be obtainable as a limited access release until March 31, 2021. Based on the original Super Mario Bros. (1985), the game will follow a battle royale format. To win the game, you must race and compete against 34 other players in a timed setting. Super Mario Bros. 35 is said to include daily challenges and other special tasks as well.
FIFA 21 was officially released on October 9th. Pre-order early access began October 1, but those who downloaded the Champions Edition or Ultimate Edition could download the game October 6. For Xbox One/Xbox Series-X and PS4/PS5, the game costs $59.99 standard, $79.99 for the Champions Edition, and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. FIFA 21's next-gen editions will have features that will adapt to the new abilities given by the console and will also include Career Mode improvements. One of the key differences between FIFA 20 and FIFA 21 worth mentioning is the new cap of 40 games that will go towards a player's rank in Division Rivals, meaning that playing a ridiculous volume of games is discouraged. In spite of the FIFA 21 exclusive editions, fans of the franchise argue that there isn’t much change between FIFA 21 and earlier versions of FIFA.
Mobile: Tilting Point and Big Wolf Games just launched Narcos Idle Cartel, a new app on the Google Play Store. In Narcos Idle Cartel, the player “runs a shady family business” and must coordinate the rungs of the company in order to keep it afloat. The simulation game, which was based off Netflix’s Narcos, has been described as “a comic and telenovela mixed together.” Narcos: Idle Cartel has received a 3.8 on Google Play Store.
On September 12th, indie developers Odencat released the pixel art mobile game Mousebusters on the iOS and Android app store. In Mousebusters, the player must guide mice towards encountering phantoms. Mousebusters is also dubbed a horror game, which clashes against its apparent animation style. Odencat also produced Snowman Story and Zelle, with both of these games winning awards at Google’s Indie Games festivals. The game is free-to-play but does have in-app purchases.
PC: Lucifer Within Us will be made available on October 15 on Steam. In Lucifer Within Us, the player is an exorcist that can look into alternate timelines, with the game containing non-linear, story-rich mysteries. The game revolves heavily around daemonism and fictional “soul-searching technology.” The game is developed and published by Kitfox Games.
Guilty Gear: Strive is coming to PC and PlayStation on April 9, 2021. Arc Systems Works and Bandai Namco originally planned on releasing the game earlier but were held back due to COVID restrictions. Giovanna and Anji Mito are two new characters being added to the roster. Giovanna is a special unit officer with her wolf spirit sidekick, Rei. Anji Mito brings a specific fighting style to the game. The game on its own is $59.99, but the Deluxe bundle is $84.99. The Ultimate Edition goes for $99.99. There is also a season pass available for $29.99. Players who pre-order will also receive early access to the game’s open beta testing.
