Game Control: A New Generation Of Pokémon And Watching Sporting Events Through VR
Console: On November 18, 2022, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet became available everywhere. They are the first games of the Pokémon video game series' ninth generation, which introduces 107 new Pokémon. Contrary to earlier entries in the Pokémon series, Scarlet and Violet have open environments with both urban areas and open wilderness without limits between the two. Additionally, there are three ways to advance through the games: Path of Legends, Victory Road, and Starfall Street. Different storylines are covered by each route. Players are helped by two new legendary Pokémon (Koraidon and Miraidon) as they move about the area. The "Let's Go" feature enables the player to dispatch a Pokémon to wander the overworld and engage in automatic combat with wild Pokémon. In addition, co-op play is available with up to three other players. Scarlet and Violet also introduce the Terastal phenomenon, which gives Pokémon a crystalline appearance, changes a Pokémon's type to match that Pokémon's "Tera Type," and unlocks special moves such as Tera Blast.
The next update for Final Fantasy 14 will release in early January 2023. Square Enix disclosed this in a brand-new Letter From the Producer Live demonstration. "Gods Revel, Lands Tremble" will be the title of patch 6.3. Like prior patches, there will be new main scenario missions. Patch 6.3 will also include the second phase of the 24-player Alliance raid "Myths of the Realm" and the adoption of the Trust system for the remaining Heavensward dungeons. The new showcase confirmed that both “Tataru's Grand Endeavour” and the “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures” will continue in patch 6.3. Further details on patch 6.3, such as an exact release date in January 2023, will be revealed in part two of the Letter From the Producer Live at some point in December 2022.
On November 18, 2022, Team Ninja announced during its keynote address at the Korea G-Star conference that it is developing the long-awaited reboot of the Ninja Gaiden series. Team Ninja announced the existence of the new game instead of IP owner Koei Tecmo. An arcade game and a 2D action platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System launched the long-running and well-liked Ninja Gaiden franchise in 1988. Since the Team Ninja trilogy's 2012 completion and a 2014 spin-off, Ninja Gaiden has largely been gone. Ninja Gaiden games were praised and derided for their graphic violence and brutal cinematic fighting. Indicators of a series reboot include Koei Tecmo's 2021 release of the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection. It might be interpreted as Team Ninja getting ready to work on the series once more or Koei Tecmo testing the waters for Ninja Gaiden's comeback.
PC: Activision Blizzard has once more stepped in to stop the Blizzard Albany QA staff from voting to unionize. On October 27, 2022, union ballots were mailed to eligible workers. Activision has requested that the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) delay counting the votes until Activision's appeal of an earlier NLRB ruling is considered. The NLRB's determination that the Blizzard Albany QA team may conduct its union ballot was the subject of the appeal. The NLRB rejected Activision's claim that the vote should be among the whole studio rather than just the QA staff. The company has now asked the NLRB to reexamine the ruling and to delay the QA team voting results until it does so. Activision's main defense has been that the QA crew is too tiny to be considered an independent bargaining unit within the corporation and that studio-wide voting should take place instead.
The Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office detained Yuji Naka, a co-creator of Sonic, along with former Square Enix workers Fumiaki Suzuki and Taisuke Sasaki in connection with an insider trading case. Like the two workers from Square Enix, Naka is charged with purchasing Aiming Co shares before it became known that the developer was accepting a lucrative deal to create a Dragon Quest mobile game. When Sasaki and Suzuki bought shares of Aiming Co for 47 million yen (about $335,000 USD), they are said to have been aware of the company's covert partnership with Square Enix. Naka allegedly bought around 10,000 shares worth close to 2.8 million yen. Given the enormous success of the Dragon Quest series, particularly in Japan, that investment would probably yield a sizable return, with Aiming Co's value rising as soon as the project was revealed. It has not been disclosed whether Naka or the other suspects sold their shares.
The "Zero Harm in Comms" initiative, created by Riot Games and Ubisoft, attempts to identify solutions to eliminate toxic in-game communication in some of the most well-known multiplayer games. While it can create a space for collaboration, angry players frequently abuse in-game chat by insulting and bullying their peers. Both companies noticed the negative in-game chat in 2019. To reduce toxicity, Riot Games disabled "All Chat" in League of Legends while Ubisoft acknowledged that Rainbow Six Siege developed a reputation as one of the most hostile FPS games available. Many in the industry refer to the "Enter the Zero Harm in Comms" project as the first cross-industry research effort to combat disruptive conduct and build safer online venues for players of all genres. The initiative is still in its early stages, but players may learn more about it by visiting the websites of Riot Games and Ubisoft.
Mobile: The Brazilian Indie developer QUByte has officially launched their new fighting game 99Vidas. This mobile game is an action romp set within a contemporary backdrop, with homages to old-school arcade beat-em-ups. The game takes players to various parts of the world, each full of nameless enemies to fight. There are numerous characters to choose from, each with unique skills and playstyle. Where one character might do best as a brawler, another may be more agile, dodging every attack. There are six stages to tackle, each with its stage-specific boss that will present a unique challenge and utilize different mechanics than the others. 99Vidas is free-to-play and operates on a system in which players have a limited number of lives that will recharge over time. There will also be a premium version on offer that makes that number unlimited, allowing players to get through the game at their own pace.
The most recent game in Com2uS's well-known Summoners War series, Summoners War: Chronicles, is currently accessible on iOS, Android, and PC. An Xbox Series X|S version will be released sometime in 2023. Players can explore five open-world areas in Chronicles by completing main missions and side quests while slaying and gathering a variety of monsters. In addition, users can participate in cooperative adventures with their friends or test their mettle in PvP arenas. Summoners War: Chronicles has started several events in honor of its release, including daily login tasks and mission completion rewards. Gaining access to a 5-star monster is more likely by completing these tasks. By taking part in the unique pick-up event, which features top-tier monsters at a higher rate, players can also earn another 5-star.
VR: The games studio Tender Claws, responsible for sinister AI comedy Virtual Virtual Reality, has announced that it's working on a Stranger Things tie-in horror game. Based on the brief teaser trailer, Stranger Things VR will be about exploring the Upside Down, encountering the monsters of that dimension, and doing psychic battles with the series' protagonists, all from the perspective of season 4's antagonist, Vecna. Like all the monsters of Stranger Things, including the Demogorgon, Vecna is named after a classic enemy from Dungeons & Dragons. In this case, it is an archetypal lich whose eye and hand became powerful artifacts after his death. Tender Claws describes Stranger Things VR as a "psychological horror/action game" and says it'll be "coming to major VR platforms in Winter 2023."
