Motion Picture: Celine Song’s To Release New Film ‘Materialists’, ‘Clika’ Theatrical Release Set For August 15th

Comedy/Dramady/Musical: Henry Winkler, Sexyy Red, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ski Mask the Slump God have joined Rolling Loud, an R-rated hip-hop comedy starring Owen Wilson and Matt Rife. Inspired by a true story, the film follows an overprotective father (Wilson) who sneaks his 13-year-old son into a music festival, leading to a chaotic adventure. Written and directed by Jeremy Garelick (Murder Mystery 2), production is underway in Atlanta, with a 2026 release planned. Rolling Loud is produced by American High and Live Nation Productions, with UTA handling worldwide rights.
Celine Song’s highly anticipated follow-up to Past Lives, Materialists, will be released in U.S. theaters on June 13, courtesy of A24. Written, directed, and produced by Song, the rom-com stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. It follows a young New York City matchmaker torn between an ideal partner and her flawed ex. Song reunites with Past Lives producer David Hinojosa, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films.

Drama: Jimmy Humilde, CEO of Rancho Humilde, is expanding into film and TV with the debut feature Clika, set for theatrical release on August 15 via Columbia Pictures and Sony Music Vision. Directed by Michael Greene, the drama follows an aspiring musician fighting to preserve his family’s legacy and stars Rancho Humilde artist Jay Dee alongside an ensemble cast. Humilde, who co-wrote and executive produced the film, sees Clika as a breakthrough for Mexican-American creators in Hollywood. The project marks a collaboration between Rancho Humilde, Sony Music Latin, and Columbia Pictures, signaling a new era of representation in the industry.
Rule Breakers, directed by Bill Guttentag, tells the inspiring true story of the Afghan Dreamers, a group of young women who defied societal norms to compete in international robotics competitions. Starring Nikohl Boosheri as Roya Mahboob, the film highlights her journey from being denied access to computers in Afghanistan to founding a successful software company and forming an all-girls robotics team. Despite numerous obstacles, including visa denials and threats from the Taliban, the team perseveres, ultimately creating a landmine-detecting robot with global impact. With strong performances and an uplifting message, Rule Breakers is a timely release for Women’s History Month.

Industry Update: Taraji P. Henson has signed with Independent Artist Group (IAG) for representation, including her production company, TPH Entertainment, which has a first-look deal at BET. An Academy Award-nominated actor, producer, bestselling author, and mental health advocate, Henson recently starred in Peacock’s record-breaking limited series Fight Night and the award-winning musical The Color Purple.
