Motion Picture: Meghan Markle, In the Heights

Documentary: A royal lends their voice to a new project. Meghan Markle is set to narrate the upcoming Disneynature documentary, Elephant. The movie will stream on Disney Plus starting April 3. Elephant tells the story of an elephant and her son as they migrate with their herd. The voiceover gig marks the Duchess of Sussex’s first gig since she announced her and husband Prince Harry’s plan to step away from the British Royal Family. Mark Linfield will direct while Alastair Fothergill and Vanessa Berlowitz are credited as co-directors. Proceeds from the film benefit Elephants Without Borders.

Drama: A Shakespearean movie is running into some tragedy. The Macbeth adaptation starring Denzel Washington has officially stopped production admits the current state of the country. Macbeth is set to star Washington in the titular role and Frances McDormand as Lady Macbeth. Brendan Gleeson and Corey Hawkins are also set to star. It is not yet clear when production on the film will resume. 

In The Heights

Musical: In the Heights is temporarily on the shelf. The Lin Manuel Miranda musical delays release amidst coronavirus fears. The musical movie follows a man who inherits a fortune and is wrestling with the idea of closing his bodega and retiring to the Dominican Republic. The film was set for a wide release on June 26. A new date has yet to be determined. Anthony Ramos, Stephanie Beatriz, Dascha Polanco, and Corey Hawkins are amongst the show’s cast.

Industry: A popular movie-centered website was just purchased. Moviefone, a website for finding movie showtimes and buying tickets, was bought by producer Cleveland O’Neal for one million dollars. O’Neal produces the popular television series Made in Hollywood. The series gives viewers behind the scenes insight into upcoming movies.
