POC Invitees For The 2024 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

487 artists and executives were invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences across 19 different branches in 2024. There were 44% women, a 4% increase from 2023, and 41% people of color, a 7% increase from 2023. The total number of POC members invited this year was 157, who were invited to join 18 of the 19 branches.
Four of the POC members were invited to join multiple branches. This includes Bahrām Beyzaie, Cord Jefferson, and Celine Song for the Director’s & Writer’s branches, and Christine Turner for the Documentary & Short Films and Feature Animation branches. They each have to choose one branch when they accept the membership.
AMPAS membership will rise to 10,910 in 2024 from 10,817 last 2023, with 9,934 members eligible to vote in the upcoming 97th Oscars in 2025—an increase from last year’s 9,375.
