Eddie Murphy To Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award During The Golden Globes
The legendary actor, comedian, writer, and producer Eddie Murphy will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award. The Cecil B. DeMille Award is an accolade given to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment and is considered one of the highest honors one can receive from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).
Murphy will join the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and many others in accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award. In recent years, Murphy has garnered several professional honors. Murphy accepted a lifetime achievement award from the Critics' Choice Association in 2020, and for his return performance to NBC's Saturday Night Live, he won an Emmy for Best Guest Actor. He appeared in the eagerly anticipated sequel to his 1988 box office success, Amazon's Coming 2 America, and was inducted into the NAACP's Hall of Fame during the organization's Image Awards last year. Murphy's forthcoming projects include Beverly Hills Cop 4 and the romance comedy You People.
The Golden Globes ceremony will return live after one year off the air amid a scandal within HFPA. The ceremony, hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael, will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. The broadcast will air live at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on NBC and its streaming service Peacock from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Cecil B. DeMille Award will be presented at the ceremony. The complete list of nominations was announced on December 12, 2022.
