75th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations were announced on July 12, 2023, in a virtual broadcast hosted by actress Yvette Nicole Brown and Television Academy chair Frank Scherma.

Highlights of the announcement featured many people of color. The Last of Us became the first live-action video game adaptation to be nominated in major Emmy categories. Paris Barclay's nomination for the limited series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story made him the first black director to be nominated in all three scripted Emmy categories of drama, comedy, and limited series. He has been nominated 5 times for drama (4 for NYPD Blue and 1 for The West Wing) and 3 for comedy (all for Glee).

Jenna Ortega became the second-youngest nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, following Patty Duke. Pedro Pascal's three nominations for drama actor, guest comedy actor, and narrator made him the most-nominated Latino in 2023.

The ceremonies will air live from the Peacock Theater on Monday, September 18, from 5-8 p.m. PT/ 8-11 p.m. ET on Fox.

  • Black: There were 34 Black nominees in 2023. This is up from 18 in 2022.

  • Asian: There were 15 Asian nominees in 2023, up from 10 in 2022.

  • Latino: Latino nominees increased from 1 in 2022 to 4 in 2023.

  • Arab: For people of Arab heritage the total number of nominees was 2 in 2023. This is up from 1 in 2022.

  • Indigenous: With 2022 having zero indigenous nominees, 2023 scored 1 nomination.

  • Diverse: As the industry continues producing programming with racially diverse cast and hosts, the 2023 nominations increased from 21 in 2022 to 29 in 2023.
