2nd Annual AHS Awards Announcement

The A Hot Set (AHS) Awards is a virtual ceremony that honors the best media in film, television, and new media among people of color.  Nominees are selected by A Hot Set journalists and editors, and alongside the accolades for media, the AHS Awards also Lifetime Achievement Awards.

In preparation for the ceremony’s second iteration, some changes will be made:

• Film acting categories will focus solely on leading performances as opposed to leading and supporting.

• Two new film categories have been added:

  • Best Animated Film to highlight the growing excellence for people of color within this genre of films.

  • Best Short Film to celebrate the up-and-coming filmmakers.

• For the television categories, the competitive series and game show hosts have been divided into two new categories:

  • Best Competitive Series Host/Co-Hosts/Judges

  • Best Game Show Host.

  • This is to better reflect the growth of people of color in these unscripted sectors.

• We have added the Best Video Game category to celebrate the developments for people of color in the gaming world.

Nominees for the 2nd annual AHS Awards will be announced in January 2024, and winners will be revealed in February 2024.
